The Role

This is a varied, practical role for someone who enjoys working with customers, understands the importance of good organisation and is happy to get involved in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the business.

You will be responsible for managing our trade counter, overseeing warehouse operations and helping coordinate our flooring fitting team to ensure jobs run smoothly and customers receive an excellent level of service.

As a small business, everyone plays an important part in the team. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, uses their initiative and is willing to roll their sleeves up when needed.

Key Responsibilities

As a Flooring Trade Counter & Warehouse Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Trade Counter and Customer Service

• Manage the day-to-day running of the flooring trade counter.
• Welcome and assist trade customers, fitters and members of the public.
• Provide product information and advice on flooring materials, accessories and related products.
• Process customer orders, sales and enquiries accurately.
• Prepare orders and ensure materials are ready for collection or delivery.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
• Keep the trade counter clean, tidy, professional and well stocked.

Warehouse Management

• Oversee the daily running and organisation of the warehouse.
• Manage incoming deliveries, checking stock quantities and condition.
• Ensure stock is stored correctly and kept organised and accessible.
• Monitor stock levels and identify when products need reordering.
• Pick, prepare and allocate materials for customer orders and fitting jobs.
• Coordinate stock movements and help maintain accurate inventory records.
• Ensure the warehouse is kept safe, tidy and efficient.

Flooring Fitting Team Coordination

• Help organise the daily workload and schedule for the fitting team.
• Ensure fitters have the correct materials, tools and job information before heading out.
• Coordinate fitting dates, deliveries and collections to minimise delays.
• Communicate with fitters, customers and suppliers to resolve day-to-day issues.
• Monitor job progress and help ensure work is completed on schedule.
• Assist with handling customer queries or any issues arising from fitting jobs.

General Business Operations

• Support the smooth day-to-day running of the business.
• Communicate effectively with the team and management.
• Take responsibility for solving problems and dealing with unexpected situations.
• Identify ways to improve organisation, customer service and efficiency.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety across the counter and warehouse.
• Be prepared to help wherever needed in a busy, hands-on small business environment.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

• Organised, dependable and proactive, with a strong work ethic.
• Confident dealing with trade customers, suppliers and colleagues.
• Practical and hands-on, with the ability to manage several priorities at once.
• Comfortable taking responsibility and making day-to-day decisions.
• A good communicator who can coordinate people and workloads effectively.
• Able to work independently while being a supportive member of a small team.
• Computer literate and comfortable with order processing and stock systems.
• Physically capable of helping with warehouse duties and handling flooring materials safely.

Experience in the flooring trade, a trade counter, warehouse management or coordinating fitting teams would be a strong advantage. Knowledge of flooring products and accessories would be beneficial, although a positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.

A full UK driving licence would be advantageous if required for the needs of the business.
